Reformer Pilates in Miami

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel more aligned, strong, and balanced with our equipment-based Pilates classes designed for all experience levels, from beginners to advanced clients.

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates uses a special machine called a Reformer, which features a sliding carriage, springs and straps to provide resistance and support. Unlike mat-only Pilates, Reformer classes allow you to work standing, lying, kneeling or sitting on the machine, helping you build strength, lengthen muscles, improve posture and enhance body awareness.

At Pilates One, our Reformer sessions are designed for all levels—whether you’re new to equipment work or you’re an experienced mover looking to deepen your practice.

What are the benefits of doing Reformer Pilates regularly?

Here are some of the top benefits you’ll experience when you train with us:

  • Improved core strength (the powerhouse of your body).

  • Better posture and alignment, thanks to guided, controlled movement.

  • Increased flexibility and mobility with full-body elongation.

  • Enhanced muscular tone and endurance, especially in stabilising muscles.

  • Low-impact yet effective full-body workout, safe for many bodies and goals.

  • Greater mind-body connection, breathing deeply and moving with intention.

  • Support for injury prevention or rehabilitation, when managed by qualified instructors.

Is this class right for beginners or people with injuries?

Yes—our Reformer classes at Pilates One welcome beginners. We strongly recommend:

  • Starting with a session labelled Beginner or Foundations, where you’ll receive more attention to form.

  • Letting your instructor know about any previous injuries, surgeries or movement restrictions so they can provide appropriate modifications or suggest a private session.

  • Wearing grippy socks (or purchasing studio socks) and arriving a few minutes early so we can align you with the Reformer machine safely.

What happens in a typical Reformer class at Pilates One?
  • Warm-up: We begin with breath work and gentle movement to connect your body and mind.

  • Main sequence: Using the Reformer carriage and springs, you’ll work through exercises that challenge stability, strength, coordination and flexibility (lying down, kneeling, standing, sitting).

  • Transitioning: You’ll often move between different positions and also use small props (such as boxes, rings, balls) to increase the depth of your workout.

  • Cool-down & integration: The class ends by bringing your awareness back through controlled movements and breath, leaving you feeling both energised and aligned.

How often should I do Reformer Pilates to see results?
  • For noticeable improvements, many clients begin with 1–2 sessions per week.
For significant progress in posture, strength, and flexibility, 3–4 sessions per week is ideal.

If you’re training for athletic performance, rehabbing an injury, or working with pre/postnatal needs, we can offer personalized recommendations.

What should I wear or bring to class?
  • Grippy socks (recommended for stability)

  • Fitted, comfortable activewear

How do I get started or book a class?
  • Visit our Schedule & Bookings page to select your first Reformer class.

  • If you’re new, consider starting with a Foundations or Intro Reformer session so you feel comfortable in the equipment setting.

  • Can’t make a group class? Consider booking a private or semi-private session to receive one-on-one guidance and faster progress.

  • Want to commit long term? Ask about our membership packages—many clients find these provide the consistency that yields major results.

What if I have a specific goal (e.g., rehab, sports performance, pre-/postnatal)?

No problem—let us know. Our instructors will modify the class, adjust spring settings, or adapt the flow to support your unique needs.

Reformer Pilates is highly versatile, allowing adjustments for limited mobility, rehab, athletic training or regular wellness.
Always consult your physician or physical therapist if you have recent surgery or a serious injury before starting any new exercise.
