In no time the amount of sweaty hot bodies coming out of the apartment grew so much Jeannine Bergmann realized it was time to open a small studio in Coconut Grove, Florida in 2008. Four studios later and still growing in Coconut Grove came about our state of the art studio which is the current location with 60 to 70 classes a week. As Jeannine Bergmann describes it “a dream come true for a Pilates lover and an entrepreneur.” All our classes are different with the basic fundamentals of Pilates. We change our workouts every few months to keep the body evolving and the mind motivated. Our main focus for our workouts is to tone, lengthen and work on body alignment. ## Studio details **Pilates One Miami** — 2900 SW 28th Ter., Ste 101, Coconut Grove, FL 33133 Phone: [786-545-6889](tel:17865456889) · Email: [info@pilatesone.com](mailto:info@pilatesone.com) Hours: Mon–Thu: 7am–7:30pm · Fri: 7am–4pm · Sat: 9am–1pm · Sun: 9am–12pm --- --- title: "Miami Pilates Classes | Reformer, Tower, Mat | Pilates One" description: "Reformer, tower and mat Pilates classes in Coconut Grove for every level. Reformer Pilates uses a special machine called a Reformer, which features a sliding carriage, springs and straps to provide resistance and support. Unlike mat-only Pilates, Reformer classes allow you to work standing, lying, kneeling or sitting on the machine, helping you build strength, lengthen muscles, improve posture and enhance body awareness. At Pilates One, our Reformer sessions are designed for all levels—whether you’re new to equipment work or you’re an experienced mover looking to deepen your practice. ### What are the benefits of doing Reformer Pilates regularly? Here are some of the top benefits you’ll experience when you train with us: - Improved **core strength** (the powerhouse of your body). - Better **posture and alignment**, thanks to guided, controlled movement. - Increased **flexibility and mobility** with full-body elongation. - Enhanced **muscular tone and endurance**, especially in stabilising muscles. - Low-impact yet effective **full-body workout**, safe for many bodies and goals. - Greater **mind-body connection**, breathing deeply and moving with intention. - Support for **injury prevention or rehabilitation**, when managed by qualified instructors. ### Is this class right for beginners or people with injuries? Yes—our Reformer classes at Pilates One welcome beginners. We strongly recommend: - Starting with a session labelled *Beginner* or *Foundations*, where you’ll receive more attention to form. - Letting your instructor know about any previous injuries, surgeries or movement restrictions so they can provide appropriate modifications or suggest a private session. - Wearing grippy socks (or purchasing studio socks) and arriving a few minutes early so we can align you with the Reformer machine safely. ### What happens in a typical Reformer class at Pilates One? - Warm-up: We begin with breath work and gentle movement to connect your body and mind. - Main sequence: Using the Reformer carriage and springs, you’ll work through exercises that challenge stability, strength, coordination and flexibility (lying down, kneeling, standing, sitting). - Transitioning: You’ll often move between different positions and also use small props (such as boxes, rings, balls) to increase the depth of your workout. - Cool-down & integration: The class ends by bringing your awareness back through controlled movements and breath, leaving you feeling both energised and aligned. ### How often should I do Reformer Pilates to see results? For noticeable improvements, many clients begin with 1–2 sessions per week. For significant progress in posture, strength, and flexibility, 3–4 sessions per week is ideal. If you’re training for athletic performance, rehabbing an injury, or working with pre/postnatal needs, we can offer personalized recommendations. ### What should I wear or bring to class? - Grippy socks (recommended for stability) - Fitted, comfortable activewear - Water bottle - Towel if needed - Arrive 5–10 minutes early for setup on the Reformer ### What makes Pilates One different? - Certified, experienced instructors - High-quality Reformers and intentional class programming - Supportive environment with moderate class sizes - Strong emphasis on form, breath, and body awareness - Established Miami studio with years of experience helping clients transform their bodies and movement habits ### How do I get started or book a class? - Visit our [Schedule & Bookings](https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/ws?studioid=6671&stype=-7&sView=week&sLoc=0) page to select your first Reformer class. - If you’re new, consider starting with a *Foundations* or *Intro Reformer* session so you feel comfortable in the equipment setting. - Can’t make a group class? Consider booking a **private or semi-private session** to receive one-on-one guidance and faster progress. - Want to commit long term? Ask about our [membership packages](https://pilatesone.com/ultimate-memberships/)—many clients find these provide the consistency that yields major results. ### What if I have a specific goal (e.g., rehab, sports performance, pre-/postnatal)? No problem—let us know. Our instructors will modify the class, adjust spring settings, or adapt the flow to support your unique needs. Reformer Pilates is highly versatile, allowing adjustments for limited mobility, rehab, athletic training or regular wellness. Always consult your physician or physical therapist if you have recent surgery or a serious injury before starting any new exercise. ## Ready to Transform? Every single person in the studio started exactly where you are, and our instructors are trained to make your first visit comfortable and safe. ### Before You Arrive - **Grip socks** — required for every class. If you don’t have them, we sell them at the studio. - **Comfortable, form-fitting clothing** — no zippers, buttons, or metal that could scratch the equipment. - **Book online** through our website or the MindBody app. We accept walk-ins, but classes fill up, so reserve ahead. ### Arrive 10 Minutes Early Your instructor will introduce you to the reformer — the sliding carriage, springs, straps, and footbar — before class begins. If you’re new and arrive more than 5 minutes late, we won’t be able to admit you, since the safety introduction is non-negotiable. ### During Class Classes run 50 minutes: a warm-up, a main sequence worked lying down, sitting, kneeling, and standing on the reformer, and a cool-down stretch. The instructor cues modifications for beginners and progressions for advanced movers in the same class, so you never have to keep up with anyone but yourself. My legs feelin like they did back in high school.” — Mario Chalmers > “By far one of my favorite Pilates studios! The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and really take the time to help you improve.” — Taylor Futch ## Frequently Asked Questions ### Is my first class free? No, we don’t offer complimentary classes. Instead we run New Client Specials, including this 2-Week Group Classes package, so you can try the studio at a reduced rate. ### What should I wear? Comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely, with no zippers, buttons, or metal hardware that could scratch the equipment. Grip socks are required — if you don’t have a pair, you can purchase them at the studio. ### Do I need experience to join a class? No prior experience is needed. Instructors are trained to cue beginners, intermediate, and advanced clients in the same session. We recommend starting with our TONE full body class, which focuses on precision and the fundamentals. ### How early should I arrive? Arrive 10 minutes before your first class. If you’re more than 5 minutes late on your first visit, we won’t be able to let you in — new clients need a proper introduction to the instructor and equipment. ### Can I cancel or transfer a class from my intro offer? New client specials are limited to 1 per person and are not shareable, transferable, or freezable. They follow our standard 12-hour class cancellation policy. Ready to try Pilates One? Start with 2 weeks of group classes for $88. ## Studio details **Pilates One Miami** — 2900 SW 28th Ter., Ste 101, Coconut Grove, FL 33133 Phone: [786-545-6889](tel:17865456889) · Email: [info@pilatesone.com](mailto:info@pilatesone.com) Hours: Mon–Thu: 7am–7:30pm · Fri: 7am–4pm · Sat: 9am–1pm · Sun: 9am–12pm --- --- title: "Polished Pilates Workshop | Instructor Training Miami" description: "Polished Pilates 2-day immersive workshop for Pilates instructors. In no time the amount of sweaty hot bodies coming out of the apartment grew so much Jeannine Bergmann realized it was time to open a small studio in Coconut Grove, Florida in 2008. Four studios later and still growing in Coconut Grove came about our state of the art studio, which is our current location with 60 to 70 classes a week. As Jeannine Bergmann describes it, “a dream come true for a Pilates lover and an entrepreneur.” All our classes are different with the basic fundamentals of Pilates. We change our workouts every few months to keep the body evolving and the mind motivated. Our main focus for our workouts is to tone, lengthen and work on body alignment. ### Why Do We Offer So Many Different Types Of Classes? ### Signature Circuit Class ## Contact Us Ready to visit the studio? Both are rooted in Joseph Pilates’ original method, but they offer fundamentally different experiences. Here’s an honest comparison to help you choose — or decide to do both. ## What Is Mat Pilates? Mat Pilates is the original form: exercises performed on the floor using only your body weight. It demands significant core strength because there’s no external support. Mat work is portable, accessible, and excellent for building foundational body awareness. However, exercise variety is limited compared to equipment-based work, and modifications for injuries can be challenging without props. ## What Is Reformer Pilates? Reformer Pilates uses a specialized machine with a sliding carriage, adjustable springs, straps, and a footbar. The spring system provides both **resistance** (making exercises harder) and **assistance** (supporting you through challenging movements). This dual function is why reformer work is simultaneously more versatile and more accessible than mat — a beginner and an advanced client can do the same exercise at different spring settings. ## Side-by-Side Comparison | | Reformer Pilates | Mat Pilates | |---|---|---| | Equipment | Reformer machine with springs, straps, carriage | Mat only (sometimes props) | | Exercise Variety | 100+ exercises across multiple positions | ~50 classical exercises | | Resistance | Adjustable springs (light to heavy) | Body weight only | | Injury-Friendly | Excellent — low impact, highly modifiable | Good, but limited modifications | | Calorie Burn | 300–450 per session | 200–350 per session | | Best For | Full-body toning, rehab, all levels | Core strength, portability | | Avg. Cost (Miami) | $30–50 per class | $20–35 per class | ## Our Recommendation At Pilates One, we specialize in reformer Pilates because we believe it delivers the most complete, adaptable, and results-driven practice for the widest range of clients. Our classes incorporate mat-style elements where they enhance the workout, so you’re getting the best of both worlds. If you’re new to Pilates, start with the reformer. The machine’s guidance and spring support make it easier to learn proper form while getting an effective workout from day one. You can always add mat practice later to complement your reformer work. [Book Your First Class](https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/ws?studioid=6671&stype=-7&sView=week&sLoc=0) ## Frequently Asked Questions ### Is reformer Pilates harder than mat Pilates? Not necessarily harder — different. The reformer provides spring resistance that can make exercises more challenging or more supportive, depending on the setting. Mat Pilates relies entirely on your body weight, which means core-heavy exercises can actually feel harder on the mat because there's no assistance from springs. Most beginners find reformer classes more accessible because the machine guides your movement. ### Is reformer Pilates worth the extra cost? For most people, yes. The reformer allows over 100 exercises that aren't possible on a mat — standing work, lying down, kneeling, and seated positions with variable resistance. It's also safer for people with injuries or joint issues because the spring system reduces impact. The per-class premium over mat (typically $10-20 more) buys significantly more exercise variety and individual attention. ### Can I do both reformer and mat Pilates? Absolutely — and many serious practitioners do. Mat work builds raw core strength and body awareness that enhances your reformer practice. At Pilates One, our reformer classes incorporate mat-style elements, giving you the best of both disciplines in every session. ### Which burns more calories — reformer or mat? Reformer Pilates generally burns more calories (300-450 per session vs. 200-350 for mat) because the spring resistance creates more muscular demand across the full body. Our jumpboard reformer classes add low-impact cardio that pushes calorie burn even higher. That said, Pilates is about building lean muscle, improving posture, and long-term body composition — not short-term calorie counting. ### Do Pilates One’s reformer classes include mat-style work? Yes, our reformer classes incorporate mat-style elements where they enhance the workout. That way you get the core-strengthening benefits of mat work alongside the resistance and support of the reformer. ### Which is better for beginners, reformer or mat Pilates? We recommend starting with the reformer. The machine’s spring support and guidance make it easier to learn proper form while still getting an effective full-body workout from your first class. ## Studio details **Pilates One Miami** — 2900 SW 28th Ter., Ste 101, Coconut Grove, FL 33133 Phone: [786-545-6889](tel:17865456889) · Email: [info@pilatesone.com](mailto:info@pilatesone.com) Hours: Mon–Thu: 7am–7:30pm · Fri: 7am–4pm · Sat: 9am–1pm · Sun: 9am–12pm --- --- title: "Pilates for Back Pain and Spinal Health | Pilates One Miami" description: "Reformer Pilates for back pain relief in Miami. Whether it’s chronic lower back tension from desk work, sciatica, disc issues, or post-surgical recovery, reformer Pilates offers something most fitness modalities can’t: **controlled, progressive strengthening with adjustable resistance** that meets your spine exactly where it is today. Unlike traditional gym exercises or even mat-based workouts, the Balanced Body reformer lets you strengthen the muscles that protect your spine — the deep core stabilizers, multifidus, and pelvic floor — without compressive loading. The spring system provides both resistance and support, so you can build strength while your spine decompresses. ## What Makes Pilates One Different for Back Pain Our approach to back pain goes beyond standard Pilates instruction: - **Rehabilitation expertise:** Founder Jeannine De La Torre holds EFI sports medicine and Chinese Medicine certifications alongside her Master Pilates Instructor credential. She brings a clinical understanding to movement that most studio owners don’t have. - **Private session assessment:** For clients with active back pain, we recommend starting with private sessions where your instructor can evaluate your movement patterns, identify compensations, and design a targeted program. - **Small class sizes:** Our boutique format means instructors can provide individual attention and modifications even in group classes. - **Progressive programming:** We change our class programming every few months, ensuring your body continues to adapt and strengthen rather than plateauing. ## Conditions We Work With - Chronic lower back pain - Sciatica and piriformis syndrome - Herniated and bulging discs - Scoliosis and postural imbalances - Post-surgical spinal rehabilitation - SI joint dysfunction - Spinal stenosis - General deconditioning and weakness ## Getting Started If you’re dealing with back pain, we recommend scheduling a private session or a complimentary 15-minute evaluation so we can understand your condition and recommend the right path. Many of our clients start with private sessions and transition to group reformer classes as their pain decreases and strength improves. [Contact Us](https://pilatesone.com/contact/) ## Frequently Asked Questions ### Is Pilates good for back pain? Yes. Pilates is one of the most effective movement practices for back pain. Reformer-based exercises strengthen the deep stabilizing muscles of the spine — the multifidus, transverse abdominis, and pelvic floor — while promoting proper alignment and reducing compression on spinal discs. Many orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists recommend Pilates as part of back pain rehabilitation. ### Can I do Pilates with a herniated disc? In most cases, yes — but it depends on the severity and your doctor's guidance. Reformer Pilates allows your instructor to adjust spring resistance and modify positions to avoid flexion or extension that could aggravate a disc issue. We recommend starting with private sessions so your instructor can design a program specific to your condition. ### How soon after back surgery can I start Pilates? Most clients begin reformer Pilates 6-12 weeks after back surgery, with clearance from their surgeon. Our private sessions are ideal for post-surgical rehab because we can control every variable — resistance, range of motion, and progression. Founder Jeannine De La Torre holds EFI sports medicine and Chinese Medicine certifications, bringing a rehabilitation-focused approach to every session. ### Is Pilates better than yoga for back pain? Both can help, but Pilates has a distinct advantage for back pain: the reformer's spring resistance provides support and feedback that mat-based practices can't match. You can strengthen without bearing your full body weight, which is critical for acute back pain. The controlled, precise movements also reduce the risk of aggravating an existing condition. ### How many times a week should I do Pilates for back pain? For active back pain, we recommend starting with 1-2 private sessions per week to establish proper form and identify your specific needs. As pain decreases, most clients transition to 2-3 group reformer classes per week for maintenance and continued strengthening. ### Does Pilates help with sciatica, scoliosis, or spinal stenosis? Yes, these are among the conditions we regularly work with at Pilates One. We also see clients for chronic lower back pain, herniated and bulging discs, SI joint dysfunction, post-surgical spinal rehabilitation, and general deconditioning. ### Should I start with a private session or a group class for back pain? Start with a private session or our complimentary 15-minute evaluation so your instructor can assess your condition first. Many clients begin with privates and transition to group reformer classes as their pain decreases and strength improves. At Pilates One, we’ve worked with hundreds of expectant and new mothers since 2008, helping them maintain strength, manage discomfort, and recover with confidence. ## Prenatal Pilates at Pilates One Reformer Pilates is uniquely suited to pregnancy. The spring-based resistance system allows your instructor to reduce load as your body changes, while the carriage supports positions that become uncomfortable on a mat. Our prenatal-friendly approach includes: - **Pelvic floor strengthening** — The foundation for easier delivery and faster recovery - **Posture support** — Counteracting the forward pull of your growing belly - **Hip and back relief** — Targeted exercises for the areas that bear the most change - **Breath work** — Building the diaphragmatic breathing patterns that support labor - **Safe, low-impact movement** — All the benefits of strength training without jarring impact You’re welcome in most of our group reformer classes throughout your pregnancy, **except Jump Board Reformer**. For first-time Pilates students who are pregnant, we offer a complimentary 15-minute personal evaluation or 50% off a private session to ensure we set you up safely. ## Postpartum Recovery The postpartum body needs rebuilding from the inside out. Crunches and planks can actually worsen diastasis recti — the abdominal separation that affects two-thirds of pregnancies. Reformer Pilates takes the opposite approach: deep, controlled activation of the transverse abdominis, pelvic floor re-engagement, and progressive loading that respects your body’s healing timeline. ### Common Postpartum Goals We Address - **Diastasis recti closure** — Targeted reformer exercises that draw the separation closed without harmful flexion - **Pelvic floor rehabilitation** — Restoring strength and control after delivery - **Core rebuilding** — Progressive strengthening from the deepest layers outward - **Posture correction** — Counteracting the forward-rounded posture of nursing and carrying - **Mental health** — Movement as self-care during the postpartum transition ## Getting Started Whether you’re 8 weeks pregnant or 8 weeks postpartum, the first step is the same: **talk to us**. Call the studio at [786-545-6889](tel:17865456889) or email [info@pilatesone.com](mailto:info@pilatesone.com) to schedule a private session or evaluation. [Contact Us](https://pilatesone.com/contact/) ## Frequently Asked Questions ### Is Pilates safe during pregnancy? Yes — Pilates is one of the safest and most recommended forms of exercise during pregnancy. At Pilates One, we welcome healthy pregnancies in most of our reformer classes, with the exception of Jump Board Reformer. The low-impact, controlled movements strengthen your pelvic floor, support your changing posture, and help manage common pregnancy discomforts like back pain and hip tightness. ### When should I start prenatal Pilates? You can begin reformer Pilates at any point during a healthy pregnancy, even if you've never done Pilates before. Many clients start in their first trimester and continue through the third. If you're new to Pilates, we recommend a private session or our complimentary 15-minute evaluation first so we can assess your needs and guide you to the right classes. ### Can Pilates help with diastasis recti? Yes. Pilates is one of the most effective movement practices for diastasis recti recovery. Reformer exercises target the deep transverse abdominis — the muscle that draws the separated rectus abdominis back together — without the crunching or flexion movements that can worsen the separation. Many of our postpartum clients see significant improvement within 8-12 weeks of consistent practice. ### How soon after giving birth can I return to Pilates? Most clients return 6-8 weeks after a vaginal delivery and 8-12 weeks after a cesarean section, with clearance from their OB/GYN. We recommend starting with private sessions to rebuild your pelvic floor and deep core before joining group classes. Every recovery is different — your instructor will meet you where you are. ### Do I need to tell my instructor I'm pregnant? Yes, always. Your instructor needs to know so they can provide appropriate modifications — adjusting spring tensions, avoiding certain supine positions after the first trimester, and modifying exercises that could compromise blood flow. Your safety and your baby's safety are our top priority. ### Do you offer a discount for prenatal or postpartum private sessions? Yes, first-time Pilates students who are pregnant get a complimentary 15-minute personal evaluation or 50% off a private session, so we can set you up safely from day one. ### Is Jump Board Reformer safe during pregnancy? No, we ask pregnant clients to skip Jump Board Reformer. You’re welcome in most of our other group reformer classes throughout a healthy pregnancy. ## Studio details **Pilates One Miami** — 2900 SW 28th Ter., Ste 101, Coconut Grove, FL 33133 Phone: [786-545-6889](tel:17865456889) · Email: [info@pilatesone.com](mailto:info@pilatesone.com) Hours: Mon–Thu: 7am–7:30pm · Fri: 7am–4pm · Sat: 9am–1pm · Sun: 9am–12pm --- --- title: "Pilates Cost in Miami: 2026 Pricing Guide | Pilates One" description: "What Pilates classes cost in Miami in 2026: drop-ins, packages, memberships and privates, with Pilates One's Coconut Grove prices as a real example." url: "https://pilatesone.com/pilates-cost-miami/" slug: "pilates-cost-miami" type: article updated: 2026-09-04 keywords: - "pilates" - "miami" - "pricing" - "cost" - "guide" - "how" - "much" - "does" - "average" - "prices" entities: - "Pilates One Miami" - "2900 SW 28th Ter., Ste 101, Coconut Grove, FL 33133" - "786-545-6889" --- # How Much Does Pilates Cost in Miami? ## 2026 Pilates Pricing Guide for Miami Pilates pricing in Miami varies widely depending on the studio type, class format, and instructor credentials. This guide breaks down what you can expect to pay across different options so you can make an informed choice. ## Average Pilates Prices in Miami | Class Type | Price Range | Notes | |---|---|---| | Group Reformer (Boutique) | $35–50/class | Small class sizes, certified instructors | | Group Reformer (Chain) | $20–30/class | Larger classes, contract-based | | Mat Pilates | $20–35/class | No equipment needed | | Private Session | $80–150/session | One-on-one, fully customized | | Duet Session | $60–100/person | Two people, semi-private | | Monthly Membership | $120–350/month | Best value for regular practice | ## Pilates One Pricing At Pilates One, we offer transparent, straightforward pricing with no hidden fees: ### Monthly Memberships (3-month minimum) - **4 Classes/Month:** $120/month ($30/class) - **8 Classes/Month:** $199/month (~$25/class) - **Unlimited:** $329/month (as low as $16/class at 5x/week) ### Class Packages (No commitment) We offer single-purchase class packs for clients who prefer flexibility over a recurring membership. These are one-time purchases with expiration dates — no auto-renewal. See our [packages page](https://pilatesone.com/packages/) for current options and New Client Specials. ### Private Sessions Private and duet sessions are available by appointment. Contact us at [786-545-6889](tel:17865456889) or [info@pilatesone.com](mailto:info@pilatesone.com) for private session pricing. ## What Affects Pilates Pricing? When comparing studios, consider what’s behind the price: - **Instructor credentials:** A PMA-certified instructor with 10+ years experience commands higher rates than a newly certified teacher. At Pilates One, all instructors are comprehensively certified with 500+ hours of training. - **Class size:** Boutique studios (8–14 reformers) offer more individual attention than chain studios (20+ reformers). Smaller classes = better form correction = better results. - **Equipment quality:** We use brand-new Balanced Body reformers — the gold standard in the industry. Equipment quality directly affects your workout experience. - **Location:** Coconut Grove and Brickell studios tend to price 10–20% higher than suburban locations, reflecting rent costs and the neighborhoods they serve. ## Making It Affordable The most cost-effective way to practice Pilates regularly is through a membership. If you attend 3 classes per week on our Unlimited plan, your per-class cost drops to about $25 — competitive with chain studios but with boutique quality, certified instructors, and brand-new equipment. [View Packages & Pricing](https://pilatesone.com/packages/) ## Frequently Asked Questions ### How much does Pilates cost in Miami? Pilates class prices in Miami typically range from $30-50 per group reformer session at boutique studios, with mat classes running $20-35. Chain studios like Club Pilates offer lower per-class rates ($20-30) but often require long-term contracts. Private sessions range from $80-150 depending on the studio and instructor's credentials. At Pilates One, group reformer classes start at $30 per session with our membership plans. ### Is a Pilates membership worth it? If you plan to attend 2 or more classes per week, a membership almost always saves money over drop-in rates. At Pilates One, our Ultimate Membership at $329/month for unlimited classes brings your per-class cost to under $20 if you attend 4 times per week — compared to $40+ per drop-in class at most Miami studios. The 8x/month membership at $199 brings per-class cost to about $25. ### Does Pilates One offer a first-time discount? Yes. We offer several New Client Specials at reduced rates so you can try Pilates One before committing to a membership. These are one-time intro packages — check our packages page for current offers. ### Why is reformer Pilates more expensive than gym classes? Reformer Pilates requires specialized equipment (a single Balanced Body reformer costs $4,000-8,000), certified instructors with 500+ hours of training, and small class sizes that limit capacity. You're paying for individual attention from an expert instructor, equipment that enables 100+ exercises, and a boutique experience. The results per hour invested are significantly higher than most gym classes. ### Are there free Pilates classes in Miami? Most boutique studios don't offer free classes, including Pilates One. Some chain studios and ClassPass offer discounted first sessions. We believe the quality of instruction and equipment justifies our pricing — our New Client Specials let you experience that quality at a reduced rate before committing. ### How much do private Pilates sessions cost at Pilates One? A single private session is $120, with 5- and 10-session packs at $600 and $1,100. Duet private sessions, where two people train together, run $75 per person for a single session. ### Are there class packages if I don’t want a membership? Yes, our Studio Group Class Packages don’t require a membership commitment. A single class is $45, with packs of 5, 10, and 20 classes at $200, $400, and $599, plus a 1-Month Unlimited option at $399. ## Studio details **Pilates One Miami** — 2900 SW 28th Ter., Ste 101, Coconut Grove, FL 33133 Phone: [786-545-6889](tel:17865456889) · Email: [info@pilatesone.com](mailto:info@pilatesone.com) Hours: Mon–Thu: 7am–7:30pm · Fri: 7am–4pm · Sat: 9am–1pm · Sun: 9am–12pm --- --- title: "Pilates in Coconut Grove Miami | Pilates One Studio" description: "Reformer Pilates classes in Coconut Grove, Miami. 60+ classes/week, private sessions, and memberships from $120/mo. What happens in your first class at Pilates One in Coconut Grove: what to wear, how the machine works, and how to book." url: "https://pilatesone.com/first-reformer-class/" slug: "first-reformer-class" type: article updated: 2026-09-04 keywords: - "class" - "pilates" - "what" - "first" - "reformer" - "expect" - "arrive" - "before" - "bring" - "book" entities: - "Pilates One Miami" - "2900 SW 28th Ter., Ste 101, Coconut Grove, FL 33133" - "786-545-6889" --- # Your First Reformer Pilates Class ## What to Expect at Pilates One Walking into a reformer Pilates studio for the first time can feel intimidating — the machines look complex, the vocabulary is unfamiliar, and you might wonder if you’re fit enough. Here’s the truth: every single person in the studio started exactly where you are. And at Pilates One, our instructors are specifically trained to make your first experience comfortable, safe, and genuinely enjoyable. ## Before You Arrive ### What to Bring - **Grip socks** — Required for every class. If you don’t have them, we sell them at the studio. - **Water bottle** — You’ll want it. - **Comfortable clothing** — Form-fitting is best. No zippers, buttons, or metal that could scratch the equipment. ### Book Your Class Reserve your spot online through our website or the MindBody app. While we accept walk-ins, you risk not getting a spot — our classes fill up, especially morning and evening sessions. We recommend the **TONE full body** class for your first visit, which focuses on precision and the fundamentals. ### Arrive 10 Minutes Early Your instructor will introduce you to the reformer — the sliding carriage, springs, straps, and footbar. They’ll show you how to adjust springs and explain the basics so you feel confident before class begins. If you’re new and arrive more than 5 minutes late, we won’t be able to admit you — the safety introduction is non-negotiable. ## During Class A typical class at Pilates One is 50 minutes and follows this flow: 1. **Warm-up (5–8 min):** Breath work and gentle footwork on the reformer to connect body and mind. 2. **Main sequence (30–35 min):** You’ll work through exercises lying down, sitting, kneeling, and standing on the reformer. The instructor will cue modifications for beginners and progressions for advanced movers — all in the same class. 3. **Cool-down (5–8 min):** Stretching and controlled movement to close the session. You’ll feel lengthened, warm, and present. **Don’t worry about keeping up.** Pilates isn’t about speed or reps — it’s about precision, control, and breath. Your instructor will guide you through every exercise, and our small class sizes mean they can give you individual attention. ## After Class Expect to feel a combination of energized and relaxed — what our clients call the Pilates One ***feel good***. Mild muscle soreness 24–48 hours later is normal, especially in your core, glutes, and inner thighs. By your third or fourth class, your body adapts and the soreness becomes a pleasant reminder rather than a surprise. Most new clients see noticeable changes in posture and body awareness within 5–8 sessions. Visible tone and strength changes typically appear around 15–20 sessions. Consistency matters more than intensity. No prior experience is needed. Our classes welcome all levels, and instructors are trained to cue beginners, intermediate, and advanced clients in the same session. We recommend starting with our TONE full body class, which focuses on precision and understanding the mechanics of Pilates. ### What should I wear to Pilates? Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely. Avoid anything with zippers, buttons, or metal hardware that could scratch the equipment. Grip socks are required — if you don't have a pair, you can purchase them at the studio. ### Is the first class free? We don't offer complimentary classes, but we have several New Client Specials at reduced rates so you can experience Pilates One without a full-price commitment. Check our packages page for current intro offers. ### How early should I arrive? Arrive 10 minutes before your first class. This gives you time to park, meet your instructor, and get oriented with the reformer equipment. If you're more than 5 minutes late on your first visit, you won't be permitted to enter the class for safety reasons — we need to properly introduce you to the equipment. ### Will I be sore after my first class? Most first-timers experience mild soreness 24-48 hours after class, particularly in the core, glutes, and inner thighs — muscles you may not regularly target. This is normal and a sign your body is adapting. The soreness typically decreases significantly by your third or fourth class. ### Where do I park for my first class? Metered street parking is available directly outside the studio. We recommend the Pay By Phone app with parking code 40917, and suggest allowing extra time so you can still arrive 10 minutes early. ### What if I need to cancel my first class? Cancel at least 12 hours before your class through your MindBody profile or the Pilates One app, by phone, or by email. Canceling later than that counts as a late cancellation. ## Studio details **Pilates One Miami** — 2900 SW 28th Ter., Ste 101, Coconut Grove, FL 33133 Phone: [786-545-6889](tel:17865456889) · Email: [info@pilatesone.com](mailto:info@pilatesone.com) Hours: Mon–Thu: 7am–7:30pm · Fri: 7am–4pm · Sat: 9am–1pm · Sun: 9am–12pm --- --- title: "Contact Pilates One Miami | Coconut Grove Studio" description: "Contact Pilates One at 786-545-6889.
